Hello my little cherubs! This week I have made a list of my top romantic restaurants in five of the most visited cities in the United States! Here they are.
Malibu, CA
Geoffrey’s
Located on the site of the former Holiday House, a resort/hotel/watering hole to the stars for decades, it was designed by world-famous architect Richard Neutra. It opened its doors in 1948, and immediately established itself as the ultimate destination, hosting the gods and goddesses of its day, including Frank Sinatra, Shirley MacLaine, and Lana Turner. Holiday House attracted more than just the crème de la crème of Hollywood, though-it also was the place where a then-unknown senator from Massachusetts by the name of John F. Kennedy began a lengthy affair with Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe.
As one classic died, though, a new one was born. In 1983, Holiday House ended its glorious run when Harvey Baskin, a financier/gourmand/nature lover, purchased it and created what is known today as Geoffrey’s Malibu.
Baskin proved to be a genius at cultivating the natural beauty that came to be the calling card at Geoffrey’s Malibu. He redesigned the space so that every seat in the house had a panoramic view of the ocean, one in which there were no boundaries between the restaurant and the splendor in which it was surrounded.
San Francisco, CA
BIX
BIX’s elegant, two-story interior is distinguished by a graceful mahogany bar, fluted columns with ornate capitals, stunning original art, plush banquettes, cozy booths, starched linens, glittering glasses and polished flatware.
Through the years, BIX has been featured in movies, magazines, books and commercials as the quintessential San Francisco restaurant. The ambiance is pure 1930s and ’40s — tasteful art moderne reminiscent of the glory days of Cunard and French Line ships. Fashionable and glamorous are the hallmarks. Trendy is simply not a part of the BIX culture.
Orlando, FL
Norman’s
